then avoid the passages where accountability begins inside the house itself.

RESONANCE

There is a pattern in religious performance:

When hypocrisy is exposed, it becomes “negativity.”
When systems are questioned, it becomes “division.”
When accountability appears, it becomes “lack of grace.”

But Scripture repeatedly turns its sharpest attention toward those claiming spiritual authority.

Not because outsiders are perfect—
but because sacred language carries weight.

And when that language is used to conceal exploitation, manipulation, or hypocrisy,
the damage multiplies.

The issue is not that failure exists.

The issue is when image becomes more important than truth.

PARABLE

A town built a hospital and a theater in the same building.

Downstairs, the sick waited for care.

Upstairs, leaders performed healing ceremonies beneath bright lights.

They spoke often about hope, restoration, and compassion.

But they rarely went downstairs.

One night a fire began behind the stage curtains.

Smoke filled the upper rooms while the leaders ran outside shouting,
“The danger is in the streets! The danger is outside!”

But the smoke was rising from their own roof.

A nurse pointed upward and said,

“The fire is in the house.”

The leaders accused her of creating division.

But the flames continued spreading.

So she unlocked the lower doors and led the sick outside first.

And when the building finally collapsed,
it burned from the stage downward.

The phrase “judgment begins in the house of God” shifts accountability inward before it looks outward.

That means exposure is not automatically hatred.
Confrontation is not automatically rebellion.
And discernment is not automatically condemnation.

Systems, leaders, and institutions are not exempt from examination simply because they speak in sacred language.

Scripture repeatedly warns about shepherds who exploit the flock while preserving appearances.

The concern is not perfection.

It is honesty.

Because when performance replaces integrity,
the structure begins protecting itself instead of protecting people.

And when that happens, silence becomes participation.

If a system can confront the world
but cannot confront hypocrisy within itself,

it is protecting image
more than truth.
