and called it love.

RESONANCE

Boundaries challenge the idea
that love requires permanent accessibility.

But throughout Scripture, love is consistently paired with discernment, truth, and protection.

Not every open door remains open indefinitely.

There are moments of withdrawal.
Moments of separation.
Moments where preservation becomes necessary.

Because when access is treated as unconditional regardless of behavior,
harm gains protection under spiritual language.

And when someone resists boundaries entirely,
often what they are resisting is the loss of unrestricted access.

PARABLE

A shepherd built a fence around a spring.

Not to keep the sheep away—
but to keep the water clean.

One day a wolf entered wearing wool.

It drank from the spring,
stirred mud into the water,
and moved among the flock unnoticed.

Some of the sheep said,

“Do not judge.”
“Be kind.”
“Leave the gate open.”

But the shepherd watched the pattern.

So he opened the gate for the thirsty
and closed it to the predator.

The wolf called the fence hatred.

Some sheep called it division.

But the spring remained clear.

And the lambs survived.

Boundaries are not the opposite of love.

They are structure around what is sacred.

Forgiveness may release resentment internally,
but wisdom still determines what is permitted externally.

There are repeated instructions throughout Scripture regarding discernment, separation from harm, and protection of the vulnerable.

Not every relationship is restored through proximity.

Not every pattern deserves continued access.

Love without discernment collapses into enablement.

Truth without compassion hardens into cruelty.

Holy boundaries hold both.

Not hatred.
Not revenge.

Clarity.
