You can measure signals.

Track impulses
across billions of neurons.

consciousness emerges

not creating awareness,
but tuning into it.

Like a radio
does not create music—
it organizes signals
already present
in the air.

that believed light
only existed inside their lanterns.

“Look.
The lanterns create the light.”

“If the lanterns create the light,
why does the sunrise
illuminate the whole sky
without them?”

The villagers fell silent.

if the lanterns
had never been the source—
only a way
of holding the light.
