The mark was never named.
The meaning was.
In the earliest record, the mark of Cain is not defined as skin.
It is simply called a “mark”—a protection, not a pigment.
No color is given.
No physical change described.
Later, interpretation begins.
Meaning is assigned where detail was never provided.
Then another layer forms.
In the Book of Mormon, language appears describing a “skin” used to distinguish groups.
Whether symbolic or literal, it becomes a reference point.
From there, the threads are woven together.
Different texts.
Different contexts.
One conclusion.
And over time, that conclusion is taught as if it were continuous.
There was once a thread left unnamed in the original cloth.
It was visible,
but not explained.
So the next weaver gave it meaning.
And the next gave it purpose.
And the next wove it into a pattern.
Soon, the cloth carried a design
no one remembered creating.
And when asked where it began,
they pointed to the first cloth—
though the pattern had been added later.
One day, someone traced the thread back.
Not to the pattern—
but to the place where it was never named.
And the cloth loosened.
What begins as absence of detail
often becomes filled by interpretation.
Interpretation repeated
becomes teaching.
Teaching reinforced
becomes doctrine.
And doctrine lived over time
feels like truth.
But continuity matters.
When separate ideas are combined
and presented as one line,
distortion can appear seamless.
The mark was not defined.
The meaning was added.
The language was not unified.
The interpretation was.
And from that, a framework formed—
one that linked identity, lineage, and worth
to something never clearly established at the source.
That framework was taught.
Defended.
Lived under.
Then later, it was released.
Not because it changed—
but because it did not hold.
The question is not whether correction came.
It is why the thread
was allowed to remain woven
for so long.
When the origin is clear,
the additions become visible.
And when the additions are seen,
the structure can be understood—
not as truth broken,
but as truth
layered over.

The Space
Not a storefront.
Not a schedule.
Just something you return to
when it calls you back.
